# Care for transgender and non-binary people

Plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine can help bring the body in line with gender identity. I welcome transgender and non-binary people at the practice, at every stage of their journey, with or without an ongoing medical transition.

## A welcome without judgement

You are received with the first name and pronouns you use. They are recorded in your file from the moment you book, even if your legal status has not yet changed. The secretariat and the clinic team are informed.

Your identity is neither discussed nor questioned. My role is to respond to your request with the means of my speciality. As for every patient, your file remains confidential and covered by medical secrecy.

## The journey

The first consultation is a time for listening. You explain what troubles you and what you expect. I examine you and I present the possible options, their limits and their risks.

Your request may be part of a transition journey followed by other professionals (general practitioner, endocrinologist, psychiatrist or psychologist). In that case, I work together with them and I can refer you to a specialised care network if you do not have one yet. A multidisciplinary opinion may be requested before certain procedures.

A second consultation is required before any surgery. It confirms the project and answers your questions after a period of reflection.

## Possible procedures

Depending on your request, several procedures can be offered, alone or combined:

-   torsoplasty;

-   [face lipofilling](https://legall-chirurgie-esthetique-toulouse.fr/en/treatments-performed/face-lipofilling/);
-   [botulinum toxin injections](https://legall-chirurgie-esthetique-toulouse.fr/en/treatments-performed/botulinum-toxin-injections/);
-   [hyaluronic acid injections](https://legall-chirurgie-esthetique-toulouse.fr/en/treatments-performed/hyaluronic-acid-injections/).

There is no standard programme. A non-binary person may want a flat chest and nothing else. Another may want to soften certain facial features with injections only. Together we build a project that fits you.

## Coverage

As part of a transition journey, certain procedures may be covered by the French health insurance, under conditions. This coverage may depend on the recognition of a long-term condition, on prior approval and on the opinion of the team that follows you. Fee supplements and certain procedures may remain at your expense or fall under your complementary insurance.

## Making an appointment

You can make an appointment by telephone with the secretariat or online. If you wish, specify the first name and pronouns to use. You may come with the person of your choice.

The SOFCPRE information sheet for your procedure is given to you during the consultation.

## My advice

-   ### Hydrate yourself and your skin
    
    Drink enough water and unsweetened drinks regularly. Apply a moisturizer to the skin once or twice a day after cleansing.
    
-   ### Protect yourself from the sun
    
    Avoid prolonged direct exposure, cover up and regularly apply total sunscreen protection (UVA / UVB) factor 50 to exposed areas.
    
-   ### You should not smoke
    
    or you should stop smoking as soon as possible. If needed, ask for help to your doctor or a tobacco addiction specialist, there are many methods available to help you in this difficult process.
