Two techniques can improve the shape of the buttocks. Lipofilling restores volume and shape with your own fat. The buttock lift removes excess skin and lifts the tissues when the skin is loose, most often after significant weight loss. The two techniques can be combined.

    How the procedure unfolds

    Before

    In practice

    • In consultation, I analyse your request.
    • I examine the quality of the skin, the volume of the buttocks and the available fat areas.
    • I collect information about your state of health (see “the first consultation for surgery”).
    • We take photographs for your medical record.
    • I give you all the information about the surgery and give you an estimate.

A stable weight is desirable before the operation. A second consultation is compulsory before any procedure.

You must stop smoking at least one month before the operation. You meet the anaesthetist before the operation.

    During

    Surgery

The operation is performed under general anaesthesia at the Clinique Pasteur in Toulouse. Lipofilling is most often done on an outpatient basis. For a lift, a short hospital stay may be necessary.

For lipofilling, the fat is injected into the subcutaneous tissues of the buttocks with fine cannulas, through entry points of a few millimetres.

For the lift, I remove the excess skin through an incision located at the top of the buttocks. The scar is horizontal and hidden by underwear.

The operation generally lasts one to three hours depending on the procedure. You go home with your compression garment.

    After

    Postoperative effects

Pain is moderate to marked during the first days. It is relieved by painkillers.

Bruises and swelling appear on the harvested areas and on the buttocks. They fade within a few weeks.

    • After lipofilling, you must avoid sitting directly on the buttocks during the first weeks. A suitable cushion is recommended.
    • After a lift, scar care is necessary.
    • The compression garment is worn for several weeks.
    • One to two weeks off work is generally necessary.
    • Sport is resumed after several weeks.

The result of the lipofilling is assessed after three to six months, once the fat has stabilised. The scars of the lift fade over about one year. I see you again for a follow-up consultation.

    Fat harvesting

For lipofilling, the fat is harvested by liposuction from neighbouring areas: hips, flanks, lower back, thighs. This harvesting also refines the figure. The fat is purified and then reinjected. Part of the injected fat is resorbed in the following weeks. The volume obtained depends on the amount of fat available.

What to do to optimize the result?

    • Keep a stable weight: the grafted fat follows your weight variations.
    • Stop smoking: tobacco compromises fat take and healing.
    • Avoid direct pressure on the buttocks during the first weeks.
    • Wear the compression garment as recommended.
    • Drink enough water and moisturise the skin.
    • Protect scars and bruises from the sun for one year.
    • Massage the scars once healing is complete.

    Social security coverage

Buttock lipofilling is not covered by social security. The buttock lift is not covered for aesthetic purposes. After significant weight loss, it may be covered in certain cases, after a request for prior approval. We discuss this in consultation.

    Pricing

Buttock lift: from 3400 euros, on estimate given at the end of the consultation.

The SOFCPRE information sheet for your procedure is given to you during the consultation.

    My advice

    • Hydrate yourself and your skin

Drink enough water and unsweetened drinks regularly. Apply a moisturizer to the skin once or twice a day after cleansing.

    • Protect yourself from the sun

Avoid prolonged direct exposure, cover up and regularly apply total sunscreen protection (UVA / UVB) factor 50 to exposed areas.

    • You should not smoke

or you should stop smoking as soon as possible. If needed, ask for help to your doctor or a tobacco addiction specialist, there are many methods available to help you in this difficult process.
