The eyebrow lift, also called a forehead lift or temporal lift, treats a drooping eyebrow. This drooping makes the upper eyelid look heavy and gives a sad or tired look. It can also soften forehead wrinkles and the wrinkles between the eyebrows. It is intended for people whose eyebrows have dropped, alone or in association with a blepharoplasty.

    How the procedure unfolds

    Before

    In practice

    • In consultation, I analyse your request and I examine the position of your eyebrows, the height of your forehead, your hairline and your eyelids.
    • I also collect information concerning your state of health.
    • We take photographs for your medical record.
    • I give you all the information about the surgery and I give you an estimate.

A second consultation is mandatory before any procedure. You must stop smoking at least one month before the operation.

    During

    Surgery

The eyebrow lift is performed at the Clinique Pasteur, in Toulouse. It is most often performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or under general anesthesia depending on the case. It is usually done on an outpatient basis.

    Several techniques exist.

    • The temporal lift raises the tail of the eyebrow through scars hidden in the scalp at the temples.
    • The endoscopic forehead lift raises the whole eyebrow and forehead through small incisions hidden in the scalp, with the help of a camera.
    • In some cases, the scar can be placed at the hairline.

The principle is to detach the tissues of the forehead, to raise them and to fix them in their new position.

The operation usually lasts between one and two hours. A bandage is placed around the head. It is removed after one to two days.

    After

    Postoperative effects

The postoperative period is usually not very painful. A feeling of tension in the forehead and headaches are possible in the first days.

    • Edema (swelling) and bruises often move down towards the eyelids. They most often fade in two to three weeks.
    • Numbness or itching of the scalp is frequent. It disappears gradually over several weeks to several months.
    • Time away from social life is usually one to two weeks.

The scars, hidden in the hair, are not very visible. The result can be assessed after about three months. The final result is obtained after about six months.

I see you again in follow-up consultation and I follow you personally during this whole period.

    Eyebrow and eyelid

The impression of excess skin on the upper eyelid is sometimes due to a drooping eyebrow. In this case, a blepharoplasty alone is not enough and can even lower the eyebrow a little more. The examination in consultation allows us to determine whether an eyebrow lift, a blepharoplasty or both are indicated. For a moderate request, botulinum toxin can in some cases slightly raise the tail of the eyebrow. We discuss this together.

What to do to optimize the result?

    • Rest during the first days, with your head raised.
    • Apply cold on the forehead and eyelids during the first two days.
    • Do not smoke before and after the operation.
    • Protect the skin of the forehead and the scars from the sun for several months.
    • Hydrate your skin.
    • Wait for your surgeon’s agreement before any hair colouring.

    Social security coverage

The eyebrow lift is an aesthetic surgery. It is usually not covered by social security and remains at your expense. In some cases, when the drooping eyebrow reduces the visual field, coverage may be considered. We discuss this in consultation.

    Pricing

From 1500 euros, on estimate given at the end of the consultation.

The SOFCPRE information sheet for your procedure is given to you during the consultation.

    My advice

    • Hydrate yourself and your skin

Drink enough water and unsweetened drinks regularly. Apply a moisturizer to the skin once or twice a day after cleansing.

    • Protect yourself from the sun

Avoid prolonged direct exposure, cover up and regularly apply total sunscreen protection (UVA / UVB) factor 50 to exposed areas.

    • You should not smoke

or you should stop smoking as soon as possible. If needed, ask for help to your doctor or a tobacco addiction specialist, there are many methods available to help you in this difficult process.
